I was sitting in chapel while attending Bible College when a man from Bangladesh got up to speak. I had never heard of the country of Bangladesh before and listened with interest as the man described a beautiful land that was overpopulated and without the Lord. By the end of the presentation, my eyes were full of tears as the Lord began to work in my heart and give me a burden for a people I have never met.
I called my dad that night and told him all about Bangladesh and expressed an interest in taking a missions trip there. My parents have always been incredibly open to my siblings and I serving the Lord, no matter where and no matter how dangerous, but both times I tried to take this trip it didn’t work out.
How can I feel so strongly for people I have never met? I believe my burden for the people of Bangladesh is a burden from our Father above who loves people and desires for them to be saved. I believe He places burdens on His children’s heart to pray for laborers all across the world.
If the Lord had a prayer request, would you pray for it? In Matthew 9:38 the Lord says; Pray ye the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest.
The Lord is coming again soon and the time to tell others is coming to a close. The people of Bangladesh need someone to go and tell them about the Lord! They need Bible translators to go and translate the Word of God into Bengali. The need is great, but the laborers are few.
Psalms 9:10 says; ‘And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord has not forsaken them that seek thee.” The Lord gave me this verse to remind me that He hasn’t forgotten about the people of Bangladesh.
All over the world, there are people that are seeking for a god to fill a void in their life. Are you praying for laborers to go and tell of the only true God?
I would love to hear if you have a burden for a specific country and how the Lord gave you that burden! We love to read your comments!2
